If you find yourself in Covington, Louisiana, make sure to stop by Bear's Restaurant, a beloved local sandwich shop renowned for its mouthwatering po-boys. Located at 128 W 21st Ave, Bear's is known for its casual, welcoming atmosphere that feels just like home. This spot is ideal for a quick lunch break or a relaxed dinner where the only thing you need to focus on is enjoying incredible food.

Bear's menu is a celebration of Louisiana culinary tradition, specializing in po-boys that will tantalize your tastebuds. With offerings like the Roast Beef Po-Boy, tender and juicy, served either as a half or whole ($10.31 & $17.38), and the fan-favorite Ferdie Po-Boy ($19.50), there’s no shortage of delicious options. Seafood lovers will be thrilled with the Shrimp Po-Boy, perfectly fresh and generously packed ($19.88), while those craving a different flavor can tackle the hearty BBQ Beef Po-Boy ($10.81 for half, $18.38 for whole). Each po-boy is enveloped in soft, fresh French bread that beautifully complements the rich fillings.

The side orders at Bear's are equally enticing. Treat yourself to crispy French Fries ($3.69) or indulge in a sweet Homemade Cookie ($2.80)—the perfect ending to your meal. And don’t forget to wash it all down with a refreshing Coke ($1.99) or a Bottled Tea ($2.89).

While the food is undeniably the star, many customers rave about Bear's amicable staff and clean dining area. For instance, Jesse “BigBayouGatorDik” Guillot reminisces about his fond memories of visiting Bear's with his grandfather, praising the friendly service and the consistently excellent food. Similarly, Elizabeth Blanco echoes this sentiment, expressing her satisfaction with the po-boys and her hope for a larger location to accommodate the buzzing crowd.

However, it’s important to note that Bear's does get busy, especially at lunchtime. While some patrons have mentioned that parking can be a challenge and that the ordering process can be a bit chaotic, the quick turnover and efficient staff ensure that you’ll be enjoying your meal in no time. Jerome Wilson highlighted the cleanliness and speedy service, reaffirming Bear's commitment to a quality dining experience.

Overall, Bear's Restaurant is more than just a sandwich shop; it’s a local institution where the flavors of Louisiana come alive in every bite. Whether you’re a longtime local or just passing through, a visit to Bear's will leave you with full stomachs and happy hearts. Stop by for a taste; you won’t regret it!

This place is awesome. The best sandwich I've ever had. Fresh shrimp and bread on our poboys.

I’ve been coming to bears with my gramps since I was little. The staff is always super friendly. The food is top notch. We always get a roast beef po boy and some root beer. Prices are affordable and the food is great. Other options aside from roast beef is chicken shrimp ham and more. The place is super clean. The only downside is the parking since it is a pretty popular spot parking can be a haste but I would highly recommend to anyone that likes a good po boy sandwich.

Bears poboys are always the best. I can never complain about their food or their workers. Only thing I hope they do is move to a bigger location to get more setting and more parking because they are always busy and I know it will still be jammed pack even with a bigger area. Amazing food.

Service was fast & efficient .Friendly staff. Clean tables & seating area. Food was awesome, fresh ,tasty. Sandwiches were packed with meat, fresh French Bread(Po-Boy) the Roast Beef was tender, tasty, gravy was great. Best I've had in years, closes at 3pm, so check it out. Very crowded but line to order goes fast and efficient by decent & dedicated staff. Table area quickly cleaned up after patrons who didnt pick up after themselves. Restroom was clean ,Hot water and paper towels, soap provided. Just off busy Hwy 21-N Collins, crowded parking at peak times. Suggest go after 2pm, a line but goes quick. Try the Roast beef po-boy...The Ferdie(ham & roast beef combo) Amazing!

Love their food!!! I felt the great relief feeling after first bite. Most restaurants changed their food over the years but Bears food quality is still the same. BBQ shrimp is my favorite but too bad I’m too far located to go there often. I wish they often on Saturday like they used to. #1 Poboy in Louisiana!
